How to Choose an Aesthetic Clinic in Bali: A Practical Checklist

Published 5 April 2026 by Enzo

With 50 or more aesthetic clinics in Bali competing for international visitors, choosing the right one can feel overwhelming. This checklist gives you 10 practical things to verify before you book, based on what actually separates the best clinics from the rest.

1. Google Reviews: The Numbers That Matter

Google reviews are the single most useful tool for evaluating a Bali clinic. But not all review profiles are equal:

  • Look for 4.5+ stars with 100+ reviews. Clinics below this threshold may be too new or inconsistent.
  • Read the English reviews specifically. These come from international patients with standards similar to yours.
  • Look for named practitioner mentions. When reviewers consistently name specific doctors and praise their skill, that is a strong trust signal.
  • Check recent reviews (last 6 months). Staff changes, new ownership, or declining quality show up in recent reviews first.

2. Practitioner Credentials

In Indonesia, all medical doctors must hold a Surat Tanda Registrasi (STR) from the Indonesian Medical Council. For aesthetic treatments specifically:

  • Injectables (Botox, fillers) must be performed by a licensed medical doctor
  • Dermatologists (SpKK) and plastic surgeons (SpBP) have additional specialist training
  • Many Bali practitioners also hold international certifications (Allergan Medical Institute, Galderma GAIN)
  • It is reasonable to ask about your practitioner's qualifications before booking

3. Product Brands and Transparency

This is where the biggest quality variation exists. A good clinic will tell you exactly which brand and product they will use, and show you the sealed packaging before treatment. Key questions:

  • Which brand of Botox/filler do you use?
  • Can I see the sealed product before you open it?
  • Are you an authorized/certified injector for this brand?

4. Published Pricing

Clinics that publish their prices publicly (on their website, Instagram, or directories like ours) tend to be more transparent overall. No surprises at the counter.

In our directory, 15 clinics have published price lists that we have verified. Six of those have complete, detailed pricing across all treatments. See which clinics publish their prices.

5. Clinic Environment

Check the clinic's Google photos, Instagram, and website for images of the actual treatment space. You are looking for:

  • Clean, modern treatment rooms
  • Proper medical-grade equipment (not a beauty salon setup)
  • Air-conditioned, hygienic environment
  • Separate consultation and treatment areas

6. Consultation Process

A good clinic will not start injecting the moment you walk in. Expect:

  • A face-to-face consultation with the treating practitioner (not just a sales consultant)
  • Discussion of your goals, medical history, and any contraindications
  • A clear recommendation with explained rationale
  • An itemized quote before you commit

7. WhatsApp Communication

WhatsApp is the standard communication channel in Bali. A responsive, English-speaking WhatsApp team is a good sign. Test this before you arrive:

  • Send a message with your questions before booking
  • A good clinic responds within hours (not days)
  • Answers should be specific and helpful, not generic sales scripts

8. Location and Convenience

Bali's aesthetic clinics are spread across Seminyak, Kuta, Canggu, Denpasar, Sanur, Ubud, and the Bukit Peninsula. Consider:

  • Distance from your accommodation (Bali traffic is real)
  • Whether the clinic offers follow-up appointments if needed
  • Whether you can combine the clinic visit with other plans in the area

Browse clinics by area to find options near your hotel.

9. Aftercare and Follow-Up

Ask before treatment:

  • What aftercare instructions will I receive?
  • Can I contact you on WhatsApp after the treatment if I have concerns?
  • Do you offer complimentary follow-up appointments within a certain timeframe?
  • What happens if I experience a complication after returning home?

10. Trust Your Instincts

If something feels off during the consultation, it is fine to walk away. A good clinic will never pressure you into treatment. You should feel informed, comfortable, and confident before proceeding.
